Safety Climate Survey FAQ 4: What will my report look like?

Want to know what your practice Safety Climate Survey report will look like?

Before you run your own report, you can see an example on our website. The report will give you a breakdown of your survey results across the five key areas:

  • workload
  • communication
  • teamwork
  • safety systems and learning, and
  • leadership.

Results are also grouped to show dentists and practice managers scores compared against other staff. Individual responses are always anonymous and this comparison is given as a prompt for your team discussions.

You may have noticed when you completed your survey that some of the questions were scored in reverse (so for some the most positive score was 7 but for others it was 1). These questions are there to ensure that participants take the time to read the questions correctly however there is an algorithm in the system to adjust the negative scoring. This means that the score you see in your final report is aligned with the other scores so the higher your score, the more positive the response has been in that section.

You should share the report with all of your practice colleagues (not just those that completed the survey) then set up a team meeting to discuss the report and start work on your action plan.

Visit our website for guidance and support to help you understand your report and plan for your team meeting.

If you have any questions please contact the Primary Care Improvement Portfolio: hcis.pcpteam@nhs.net

The survey closes on 31 March 2020 so start now to make sure your team have enough time to complete the process.
