The recruitment process for 2025-26 VT Trainers opens on Monday 14th October 2024 at 10am for existing, returning and new Trainers. Applications can be made via Dental Portal.

New Trainer applications will close on Friday 6th December 2024 at 12 noon.

Existing and returning* Trainer applications will close on Monday 27th January 2025 at midday.

* Please note, the definition of a returning Trainer has been revised this year. Any applicants that have not delivered Vocational Training in the current (2024-25) cycle, or the previous (2023-24) cycle, are now regarded as New Trainers, and must submit their application by 6/12/24@ noon.

There have been significant revisions to the recruitment process this year to reduce the risk of Trainers being unable to match. In addition, the training year will now commence in September 2025, replacing the traditional August start.

Information about becoming a Trainer can be found in the Trainer Recruitment Section of the NES website: https://www.nes.scot.nhs.uk/our-work/dental-vocational-foundation-training/
