The National Infection Prevention and Cross Infection Control Manual

Posted by: Scottish Dental - Posted on:

The National Infection Prevention and Cross Infection Control Manual (NIPCM) is the source of guidance which should always be followed in General Dental Practices. We are asked to use a link to the manual rather than circulate a word or PDF version of the document as the guidance in the NIPCM is constantly being reviewed and updated, the online version is the most up to date and outlines the expectation at any stage as how patients are to be managed.

Please ensure that you have a process within your practice to regularly check the online version for changes. Whilst we will continue to notify you of significant revisions of the manual the responsibility to follow the most up to date guidance is a practice responsibility. Please be wary of any printed or previously downloaded content as it may not be as up to date as the online resource. An example of the continuing evolution of guidance is Appendix 21 which is currently being reviewed and will be updated at some stage in the near future and staff should be cheeking regularly for changes in this document.
